Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative medicine has emerged as a new and most exciting field of life science in view of its potential clinical applications in many debilitating and non-curable diseases. This department holds the promise of repairing the damaged tissues and organs by stimulating the body’s own repair mechanisms. Regenerative medicine aims to revolutionize the treatment of disease by providing cures rather than treating symptoms. The aim of this department is to utilize the potential of stem cells in the management of non-curable diseases. Various approaches include stem cells in transplant therapy and disease modelling, tissue engineering to generate replacement tissues and organs, and the creation of animal models to study the fundamental and molecular basis of treatment. With the coordination of various clinicians of KIMS hospitals and collaboration with other reputed research institutes, this department is actively involved in research programs like vascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, orthopaedic conditions and in autoimmune diseases.
